Take A Cold Shower
If you’ve never experienced a truly cold shower you’re missing out! I have been ending my showers with cold water off and on for awhile now. it started when I was trying to find out what was happening to my skin. Initially the shock of the cold water takes my breath away but the benefits are worth it! Here is the article we went over earlier today on Periscope. If you’re feeling brave you can keep working on this for the next 30 days or 2+ months since research says it actually takes us around 66 days to form a new habit.

Read a book on an educational topic
One of the best ways to acquire new knowledge is through reading! I haven’t started to read a book a day like Tai Lopez but I do find reading to be very important. Some people love to read for entertainment, I have always preferred knowledge. If you don’t feel like you have time to sit down and read a book Audible is a great way to access the same knowledge! Stop by your local library or bookstore and grab a book for educational purposes! If you prefer download something to a Kindle, Nook, your phone, tablet, another reading device or through Audible.
Some of the benefits of reading include expanding your vocabulary which can help with aggression, a reduction in stress and mental stimulation which can help slow the progress of Alzheimers and Dementia.

Take A New Route, Get A New Perspective, Switch Up Your Routine
This entire challenge has been about changing up your routine! Today I want you to find something of your own that will take you out of your comfort zone. Even something as simple as taking a new route home, walking down a different street, ordering something new for lunch or as drastic as dying your hair blue! I wanted the challenge for today to be visiting a veteran but instead you’re going to get a choice. I know some Veterans personally so I can do it but I couldn’t find an easy way for everyone else to find a veteran to visit. Of course if you live in a major city with a VA hospital you can start there.
Let me tell you why I think you should visit a veteran. First reason is they are people and we all need compassion and companionship. The second reason is regardless of how you feel about war or anything else if you are an American you have veteran’s to thank for your way of life. Finally, you can learn a lot from a veteran they have very interesting stories to share. It can be quite a pleasurable experience for you and the veteran you decide to visit.
If you can’t physically visit a veteran I suggest you help a veteran in another way. I found this list on CNN Five Ways to Help A Veteran Today. You can use it as a guideline to do something else nice for a veteran. Hopefully, this will be an experience and concept that you carry with you into the New Year. Don’t wait for Christmas or Veteran’s Day etc. We should be nice compassionate individuals all year round! Why not visit monthly? Find time in your life and space in your heart to reach out to these often forgotten but very important pieces of society. Just like the rest of us they do a job for a living. Their job happens to be very risky and controversial but they do it anyway. The least we can do is give back a little of our time for all that they have given and sacrificed for us.

Community – a social group of any size whose members reside in a specific locality, share government, and often have a common cultural and historical heritage.
We all have a community that we live in there’s no getting around that. When was the last time you did something to help promote support, grow or enrich your community? If you can’t think of anything specific that is your task for today! Go out and find away to support your local community!
If you are like me (I support my community every day through Shop Small, Shop Local) your challenge is to find another community to support! It doesn’t have to be a physical community outside of your own it can be a group that you just don’t usually attend to. You can pick a social community, a religious community or physical community if you prefer that you can help in someway shape or form.
I came up with this challenge today while watching Black Biz Scopes – Pass The Cast this morning for the first time. Now when it comes to racial divides I am not one that is big on picking sides I feel like when you pick one you’re automatically vilifying and denying the other ones and it doesn’t make sense to me. We are all people and I wish we could live that way. To just be humans not a color, a country, gender or sexual preference. All of these are assumptions based on our faulty sense of sight and assumptions for the most part (when is the last time you asked someone about their gender or ethnicity). None of these outward things tell us about their character, beliefs or values which are way more important. A lot of us in America can’t even trace our history back to one single country. Skin color has to be one of the dumbest and most primitive ways to make a choice (but I’m going to use it as a factor in this instance). You should like people and support them because you like them and want to support them not because they are or aren’t the same color as you, not because they did or didn’t come from the same country as you. I don’t think that’s really a good way to choose your friends. However, we can agree to disagree. What I do believe in is supporting, helping and promoting those that deserve it and are willing to work for it so I have no problem supporting black owned businesses. I support businesses of various nationalities and skin colors daily so today I’m going to go out of my way and purposefully support a black business. You can do the same. Yep, primitive choice but it is a community that does get overlooked and has a lot of good hard working people in it. For me it’s going to take a little bit of research. Luckily, I have the BlackBizScope from this morning to start with!
I live in a really tiny community right now and can probably count the number of “black” people (judging with my eyes not from conversations of everyone’s lineage) on my hand literally one hand (ok if I exclude my family LOL).
Light bulb!!! I just realized I already did my own challenge yesterday! I ordered a T-shirt from Kilahlipstick go check it out. I’m still going to do some research on the businesses I featured in today’s scope and shop with a few of them as well because hey it’s Friday it’s payday do some shopping!!! Cleaning my routine for a Sweet ’16 #BAAMS16
If you haven’t already go ahead and commit now!!! What are you waiting for? The first challenge I gave myself was to decrease the amount of potential BPA contamination my family was exposed to. This is not an easy feat! I had already started by getting mason jars a few months ago for my husbands lunches. The more I read about the effects of BPA and how getting BPA free plastics didn’t really help since the substitutes aren’t much better the less comfortable I felt feeding my kids from plastic plates and forks etc.
The challenge for today is to learn about a harmful ingredient that your family is probably encountering that you can ban from your home. I chose BPA, you can use the same one or choose something entirely different. Let me know what you decide! Scope about it, post some Instagram pictures, a Snapchat, Tweet whatever you are comfortable with. Don’t forget to hashtag it #BAAMS16. I’m not a New Year’s Resolutions kind of person. The idea of waiting to change something in your life that you know is wrong is some how baffling and crippling to me. I like to take action the first moment I can. I have made quite a few changes in my life this month and thought I should share them with you!
How about a challenge to get on the right track before the New Year even get’s here! I will post a challenge item here for the next 16 days. Do one, do them all, wash, rinse, repeat! It’s up to you!
